Sleep Like You’re on a Night Train at This New Nagoya Hotel
R Hotel Nagoya Station Opens in August 2026 With Overnight Train-Inspired Rooms
A new railway-themed hotel is set to open near Nagoya Station in August 2026, called R Hotel Nagoya Station and offering travellers a stay inspired by the quiet atmosphere of overnight train travel.
R Hotel Nagoya Station will be located around six minutes on foot from the Taiko-dori Exit of Nagoya Station. The new property is designed around the idea of a pause between journeys, with guest rooms styled like private compartments on a night train and shared spaces inspired by railway concourses, metro stations and platforms.

A Hotel Designed Like a Night Train Journey
The hotel follows the concept of “Home At a Liminal Transit”, creating a calm place for travellers between destinations. Nagoya is one of Japan’s major transport hubs, connecting the Shinkansen, JR lines, Meitetsu, Kintetsu and the city subway. It is also expected to become a future stop on the Chuo Shinkansen maglev route.
Rather than focusing on the rush of the station district, R Hotel Nagoya Station is designed as a quieter urban retreat for travellers arriving late, stopping over between cities, attending events, or preparing for the next part of their journey.

Guest Rooms Inspired by Overnight Train Cabins
The guest rooms are designed to resemble private cabins on an overnight train. Window areas draw inspiration from train windows, evoking the feeling of sitting quietly inside a carriage as scenery passes by. Each room is intended to offer a personal space away from the pace of the city, while still being part of a hotel designed around the movement and rhythm of rail travel.
The hotel’s corridors and interior details also use railway-inspired elements, including vintage-style tiles, deep blue tones, metallic finishes and indirect lighting.

Railway-Inspired Lounges and Shared Spaces
The front lounge is designed to feel like a station concourse beyond the ticket gates, where guests can arrive, pause, work or enjoy a coffee before heading out again.
A separate Platform Lounge near the entrance will feature a 4K laser projector and a small library of books. Guests can use the space like a waiting room before departure, with books and coffee adding to the relaxed railway atmosphere.
The hotel is aimed at a wide range of visitors, including business travellers, domestic and international tourists, concertgoers, long-stay guests and people travelling through Nagoya to other parts of Japan.

Convenient for Exploring Nagoya and Beyond
From Nagoya Station, visitors can easily reach major attractions including Nagoya Castle, Sakae, Osu, Atsuta Shrine and Vantelin Dome Nagoya. The station also provides access to Legoland Japan and Ghibli Park.
Its location also makes it useful for travellers using Nagoya as a stopover between Tokyo, Kyoto, Osaka, Hiroshima and Fukuoka.
